Underwater Art: Breathtaking Museum Turns Ocean Floor Into Artificial Reef Masterpiece
Museo Atlantico is the world’s first underwater contemporary art museum located just off the coast of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.
Internationally acclaimed sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor deployed the first phase of the project to draw on the dialogue between art and nature to aggregate local fish species and increase marine biomass.
The gallery is accessible to divers, snorkellers and observers through glass bottom boat and is simply stunning set in the clear blue waters, a true marvel of modern art.
The underwater museum is the first of its kind and whilst it has been built to last hundreds of years the ever changing exhibition will transform with the marine life that inhabits it.
