YouTube star Zoella’s debut book Girl Online hits record highs
YouTube sensation Zoella aka Zoe Sugg has penned the best-selling debut ever after her book, Girl Online, stormed the charts and went straight in at number one selling over 78,000 copies in the first week.
The easy reading novel follows the story of Penny, a teenager who blogs about her secret feeling on boys, friends and her underlying anxiety, a story quite similar to Zoella herself.
The story follows the 15-year-old’s relationship with with an American pop star that goes viral as her intimate blog is exposed for the world to see. Described as ‘a modern day Notting Hill for teens’ Zoella sold out 2,400 book signings in Glasgow, Manchester and Kent within 24 hours.
The Rights to Girl Online have already been sold in 25 languages with a sequel due out in 2015.
The 24-year-old shot to online fame with her YouTube channel of beauty how-to’s, hauls and Q&A’s helping her gain more than 9 million subscribers to her two YouTube channels since 2009.
